The Next Beat

Welcome to The Next Beat: Empowering Youth Workers Through Inclusive Mental Health Practices

At Origo Workshop, we are proud to present The Next Beat, a transformative project designed to equip youth workers with innovative tools and methodologies to address mental health challenges in diverse youth communities. Collaborating with the Tamalpa Life Art Process and expert facilitator Audicia Lynne Morley from the Tamalpa Institute UK, this initiative merges creativity, science, and practical application to redefine youth work.

The Next Beat empowers youth workers to implement inclusive mental health practices, explore somatic techniques, and foster peer support and youth leadership. This journey unfolds through a holistic blend of two 10-day residential learning activities, the completion of The Art of Mental Wellness online course via SALTO HOP, and a 12-month mentorship program. Together, these components build a comprehensive framework for supporting youth workers and their communities.

Why The Next Beat?

Youth workers face immense challenges in supporting youth from marginalized and diverse backgrounds. This project offers tools and strategies tailored to their unique needs, including:\n

  • Inclusive Mental Health Programs: Providing training modules focused on underserved youth groups such as refugees, LGBTQ+, rural youth, NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) youth, and those with mild mental health challenges or on the autism spectrum.\n

  • Peer Support and Leadership Development: Training youth workers to establish peer support networks and mentor youth leaders, fostering mental health advocacy and community resilience.\n

The Learning Journey

  1. Preparation Phase: Partners and participants meet to establish goals and familiarize themselves with the ETS competence framework and blended learning approach.\n

  2. TNB I (Training Course): A residential program introducing the Tamalpa Life Art process.

  3. Art of Mental Wellness (Online Course): An interactive SALTO HOP course designed to strengthen digital competencies and expand understanding of mental health in diverse youth groups.\n

  4. TNB II (Training Course): The second residential course focuses on applying learned techniques  emphasizing real-world impact.\n
